The common question is "Is it a good time to sell a property given the current situation?"

Homelight recommends listing your home as soon as possible if you are planning to sell your property within the next 24 months. If the economy comes to a significant decline, it will be more challenging to sell your home in the next 6 months versus now. Some of the buyers may have come to a halt on their home search, but those who remain financially stable would be enticed by low mortgages and more balanced market conditions. It is recommended to work with a realtor you can rely on as it is key to making the plan of selling your home to fruition. You and your realtor can have meetings using teleconferencing apps such as Zoom, FaceTime, GoToMeeting, and Skype if you are not comfortable with meeting in person. If you prefer to practice physical distancing, tapping in on technology is a great way to efficiently accomplish getting your home listed and on time. There are various virtual showing tools and applications that your realtor can use to show your home to potential buyers and restrict the physical showing of the property to the most serious buyers while taking all the extra health and safety measures. You can also use this time to declutter your home, spruce up the landscaping all while adding value to your home.

The housing market in South Carolina is anticipating a downward trend in the fall - but sellers should not be intimidated by the tightening real estate market. These are the important factors that will help South Carolina properties sell promptly despite the sluggish market.

1. Price. If the property is priced competitively at the right time, the less time it will stay on the market.

2. Location. Buyers aren't just looking at a house or property. They also consider how close it is to schools, shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. The neighborhood amenities can also make or break the sale. It is essential to feature the proximity from the home to many of the local amenities to give buyers more reason as to why they choose your home.

3. Stage your house. Homes that are properly furnished and lighted sell faster for a higher price than homes that are displayed empty.

Know your zone: Increase your family's safety this hurricane season by using the SC Emergency Manager App

Hurricane Season officially begins June 1st! Many local government authorities have begun to use the first week to make sure local communities are prepared and have an emergency plan for their families.  They call this week "South Carolina Hurricane Preparedness Week".  In line with South Carolina's Hurricane Preparedness Week, South Carolina's Emergency Management Division (SCEMD), has released the 2019 Hurricane Guide as well as launched a handy mobile application that will instantly let the residents and visitors know their zone ahead of an emergency. This application allows coastal residents determine their zone based on their phone's location or by entering a physical address. This application can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
